More Trees Removed

The sad sight of a lone tree surrounded by further deforestation at the site where the three large trees were recently pollarded, as yet again more trees and bushland are cleared from Finsbury Park. We are very concerned, as the Haringey Council Tree & Nature Conservation Manager has said that this was, “because there is an area to the rear of the pollarded trees which is commonly used by rough sleepers.” We feel that clearing trees is not the way to deal with the homeless problem in the park and are speaking to the council about this. We will also be monitoring this situation closely.

Many of you have commented on our Facebook Page and we would urge you to contact Councillor and Cabinet Member for Environment, email: Stuart McNamara, and council leader, email: Claire Kober if you feel that losing areas or Parkland in this way, for the reasons suggested, is unacceptable.
