We are delighted to announce that Finsbury Park has won an award in Time Out’s Love London Awards 2015.
Finsbury Park was a vote winner in the Local Culture category, alongside such iconic places as the Houses of Parliament, Shakespeare’s Globe, Greenwich Park, and Kenwood House.
It is the second year of the Time Out Love London Awards, which is supported by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who said ‘I’m thrilled to support the Love London Awards 2015. Every corner of this great capital has a cherished place where we love to eat, drink, shop and enjoy the local culture. They are the daily reminders of why we choose to live in the greatest city on the planet.’
It’s great to see that our ‘cherished place’ has been recognised in this way. Kevin Duffy, chairman of the Friends of Finsbury Park said ‘Many thanks to all the Time Out readers who voted for Finsbury Park. This is very welcome news. That our park is so highly valued emphasises the importance of protecting and preserving it for future generations of Londoners. Current pressures on London’s parks from over commercialisation and predatory developers challenge us all to become more actively involved in campaigning to retain our green spaces. They are London’s lungs.’
